I wanted to take a few minutes to write you a thank you letter in reference to our experiences with CAL-Tile. As you know, we purchased a second property (condo) that needed a complete remodel this past year, and with that, we needed to do a complete remodel. My wife and I started our shopping at the local Home Depot and Lowes, as I think many do today- thinking bigger is better; needless to say, we were completely dissatisfied with the lack of customer support from both company's- can't find anybody to assist, and when you do, they're experience level in design and products were mediocre at best.
We were falling behind schedule, and were frustrated with one particular piece of the remodel, Kitchen granite countertops. It was then that our contractor, Darin Holcombe, suggested that we check out your store location in Torrance due to his past clients favorable experiences with your staff, and your products; we took him up on it.
We came to your show room and we were met by Tom Brady. We discussed our situation with Tom regarding the Granite we needed, he was attentive, listened to what we were thinking, we needed some guidance since this was new to us. He lead us us to your show room to review the materials, . It was apparent at this point that Tom's knowledge of the products, and his excellent customer service was the differentiator we were looking for from a supplier.
My wife and I went back and forth over what would best suit our tastes, as well as finding a granite that would be a statement, something that was functional and easy to maintain. After reviewing some choices and narrowing on our final decision, Tom suggested that we go to the Stone yard to look at all the different styles and slabs to choose from. It was there at Rio Stone, where we were shown a variety of granite that we had not seen in our shopping experiences; it was called Matrix Motion. What made this so different, was the finish of this particular granite which they called "Leather Finish". It wasn't the normal high polished products that seem to be the trend today. The granite has a tactile feel to it, although it is polished, the process leaves a unique look and feel. The final the end result is more of a natural state, not overly processed, also something that would not show finger prints, and would be very easy to maintain. My wife fell in love with the way the granite looked in the sun on premise in the slab yard- we purchased two (2) slabs and scheduled our installation.
The next step, prior to the actual installation, you sent over the lead installer, Emilio, who did the template drawings and measuring that would be used for fabrication. I can not tell you how pleased we were with the team that represented your store. Making the decision on the granite was a big decision, the next element that is equally important, if not more, is the fabrication and the installation process. Although I was anxious at first, knowing this was an important step, wanting to be sure that everything was going to be done with attention to detail, to be done right. Emilio immediately put me at ease, he obviously knew what he was doing. Emilio shared with me that he had 12 yrs of fabrication experience prior to doing field installations- he demonstrated those skills while doing the installation; custom cutting - full back splashes, window sills, miter cuts around light rails and around the counter wall, and electric. It was a complete pleasure watching him take pride in what he was doing-you have a great team.
The purchase of the granite went so well, we have since purchased and installed from you new tile for a full bathroom remodel, as well as most recently porcelain tile for our main residence Kitchen and Laundry room just completed last week- absolutely beautiful. I've attached some pictures of the granite counter-tops that were installed at our condominium of the Matrix Motion Leather finish. We are thoroughly pleased with our decision, it's everything that we wanted and expected- we get complements every time somebody new sees it in the kitchen.
Our experience with Cal Tiles, started with first impressions; Tom's sales experience in the products that you carry, and his attention to customer satisfaction, not to mention your welcoming presence at the store, great attitude and follow-up to question and/or concerns. These attributes all sets Cal-Tiles apart from the large company's that you compete with every day.
